Original Victorian 1894 gas hair dryer. One of the earliest inventions of a machine to dry ladies hair.
This was available to buy in 1894 for £3.10/- (three pounds ten shillings. £3.50 today).
Gas was piped into the dryer and set alight, the idea being the heat from the flames would dry the hair. Many accidents happened but it was cutting edge technology and bought by those that could afford one to overcome the problems of how to dry hair. Fabulous piece of history.
