Genuine original 19th century Measham Ware teapot also known as Barge ware. Teapots could be bought from a little shop at Measham near the canal in the late 1800’s. Popular with barge people from the nearby canal who would buy them as gifts or with the family name or other message. This teapot made for Tom & Mrs Frankham of Priston in 1887. The reverse side reads A Present from Burton 1887. Burton being very close to Mesasham. Decorated with flowers and leaves and finished in a thick treacle brown glaze. Produced in the late Victorian period for around 25 years before falling out of popularity. In perfect condition with no cracks or chips . (Copies were reproduced later in the 20th century). @ £170
